The days when people felt safe using their Mac OS computers are now numbered. A recent report by Sophos, a leading software security company, shows that a new Trojan is making the rounds today called the “BlackHole Rat
Although the Trojan is still in its development stage which currently poses little threat to any Mac OS X user there is no telling what this rough application can do in the future. Sophos has analyzed this latest threat and determined that it is similar to a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) for the Windows platform called “darkComet”.
This Trojan tricks users into thinking that it is a legitimate program thus making it access your Mac easily. Once it has gained access it can do any of the following
  • Place text files in your desktop
  • Send out URL’s to victims
  • Run shell commands
  • Send out start, shutdown and sleep commands
  • Displays a fake dialogue to trick users into typing their administrator password
The trojan also comes with this message
“I am a Trojan Horse, so i have infected your Mac Computer. I know, most people think Macs can’t be infected, but look, you ARE Infected!I have full controll over your Computer and i can do everything I want, and you can do nothing to prevent it.So, Im a very new Virus, under Development, so there will be much more functions when im finished.”
You can get this Trojan by installing pirated software into your system.
